Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a brick red disc with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) golden yellow border 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in diameter overall, a central yellow circular band conjoined with four yellow diagonal bands saltirewise throughout bearing eight black billets saltirewise.

Symbolism
Brick red and golden yellow are colors used for Transportation. The yellow rim with diagonal bands joined by a ring in the center simulates a steering wheel and refers to the motor transport mission of the organization. The yellow intersecting bands are also indicative of highways. Together with the black rectangles which denote the movement of cargo and personnel by highway transport it depicts the Brigade's coordination and control of highway transportation with special reference to continuous intersectional and other line haul operations.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 425th Transportation Command on 8 May 1967. It was redesignated for the 425th Transportation Brigade on 25 February 1972. (TIOH Drawing Number A-1-453)




Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of a scarlet square, one angle up, charged with a gold eight-rayed sun, and supported by the top angular rim of the square five contiguous truck wheels with brick red hub and tires and gold spokes all in front of four wavy horizontal bars in base alternately white and blue; all enclosed at the top by an arched brick red scroll inscribed "STRENGTH" connected by a gold laurel spring on each side passing in back of the lower wheels, and joined to the ends of an enclosing curved brick red scroll in base inscribed "IN MOBILITY," all gold letters.

Symbolism
Brick red and golden yellow (gold) are colors used for the Transportation Corps. The organization's World War II service for which it received two Meritorious Unit Commendations, "PACIFIC THEATER" is indicated by the scarlet color of the Meritorious Unit Commendation streamer, the two gold laurel sprigs and the wavy white streamer, the two gold laurel sprigs and the wavy white and blue bars denoting the two "PACIFIC THEATER" awards. The eight-rayed sun from the Philippine flag refers to the unit's activation and service in that area. The contiguous wheels on the angular peak signify the unit's meritorious contribution in trucking supplies over difficult mountainous terrain. The wheels also refer to the current motor transport mission and additionally the sides of the square (4), the laurel sprigs (2) and the truck wheels (5) allude to numerical designation of the Brigade.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 5 June 1972.
